CAPTAINS DRIVE IN - Well supported (April 05, 2008) 22 four person teams turned out at 7am on Saturday 5th April to watch the various sectional Captains drive off down the first fairway or at least try.
Mr Brian Cox (Mens Captain hit 5 drives before finally getting one to reach the fairway) Mrs Nicki Turbayne (Ladies Captain and Club Captain took two drives) Master Alex Blanchard (Junior Captain took two drives) but the very experienced Mr Arthur Balch (Senior Captain took one practice swing and neatly despatched the ball straight down the middle).
The drive in was preceeded by a full buffet breakfast for all players and concluded with a prizegiving ceremony where the Captains awarded the first three highest score teams individual prizes and prizes to the four people that came closest to the four sectional Captains Drives.
Everyone had a wonderful fun time and were thankful for a relatively dry day albeit extremely windy. The clubhouse was full of anecdotes and laughter
